The bathyal zone also called the mid night zone takes up 90% of the ocean.
"Animals in the bathyal zone aren't threatened by predators that can see them, so they do not have powerful muscles" Does this mean that are are threatened by predators that can't see them? Or is it that no animals can see, therefore, predators also can't see? AtikuX 13:37, 8 June 2007 (UTC)AtikuX

Definition
[edit]There seem to be two definitions for the term. In one, it is a section of the pelagic zone. In another it is part of the benthic zone. I always thought it was the former, so I have no idea why the latter is stated. This matter of definition is confusing. - Parsa (talk) 21:59, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- The last paragraph, entered by Ccemig (talk · contribs), was a mass of misinformation, basically wrong in its entirety, and seemed, in part, to confuse the bathyalpelagic with the mesopelagic. I've removed nearly everything and reworded the "benthic" bit. --Geronimo20 (talk) 12:08, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
